Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all had a good start to your weekend. The weather was amazing in Berlin yesterday which led to a balmy, summer evening. To celebrate this I decided to go with this M.I.A-inspired ensemble-
I am wearing pieces that come from contrasting influences and trends. So I am representing ‘Brixton Massive’ with my faux (faaaaux!) gold ghetto earrings, there is a little bit of festival pixie thrown in with the rose crown, I give a nod to M.I.A with the multi-coloured, vintage, zebra print swimming costume (worn as top from Beyond Retro, London) and then I threw in a bit of fetish ‘wet look’ pleather for good measure.
And here we see M.I.A rocking the ghetto hoops and wearing a bold print swimming costume as a top-
As you can see I am also championing the ‘lingerie worn as outerwear’ trend. Ever since I watched Sex and City Season 5, where Carrie was constantly showing how her bra’s coordinated with the rest of her various outfits; it’s a look I experiment with from time to time.
The gold brooch was an amazingly generous, vintage gift from a good friend. The studded belt is vintage. As for the skirt, I really lucked out on this one. I got it about two years ago from one of the vintage concession sections in Topshop. I just adore it, the way it moves, feels and the pockets. The pockets deserve a special mention because in the evenings especially, I love to wear pieces that have pockets for things like- lipgloss, coins, pepper spray…
I’ll leave you with this M.I.A bad-ass track and video (which I would have loved to style), enjoy!-
